Higher Self & Lower Self, are creations of the ego. However can serve as a valid pointer. Like all teachings, it can place a thorn or remove one. The ego really wants to believe there is a lower self, because it still gives its own creation of a someone some-sort of validity. Really though, there is no lower self, there is only God. The voice that says... I must get to my higher self, is to proclaim that in this very moment, you are somehow at a distance from the fullness of what you are. This is the placing of yet another thorn, as it gives the ego a quest to finally fix itself so that it can become what it sees itself as not. Again, placing fulfillment in some other moment than right now. When it is seen that there is no self separate from God, the lower self becomes just an imagined story of a someone (character) that is there for play; play that might entertain with JOY for the spirit within. Kind of like God goes to a movie, and watches a fantastic performance of Love discovering itself. However the Self, that is watching the movie, is entertained and not identified.
