Highlights of the incomparable Aimee Mann and Ted Leo Christmas - TopicsExpress

Highlights of the incomparable Aimee Mann and Ted Leo Christmas Concert tonight: In addition to Aimee and Ted singing a panoply of Christmas classics with their stellar band (in-between which, true to crime-solving form, they worked on solving a backstage murder case), we got: * Jonathan Coulton doing Re: Your Brains (with full band), with the audience of the Wilbur Theater providing the zombie chorus on ALL WE WANT TO DO IS EAT YOUR BRAINS. * Susanna Hoffs (and Ted and Aimee and band) killing Hazy Shade of Winter * Bill Janovitz busting out Mineral * Susanna Hoffs (and Ted and Aimee and band) replacing the lyric Walk Like An Egyptian in that tune with the words Nes Gadol Hayah Sham, and changing the lyrics of the song to tell the story of Hanukkah (with relentless, hilariously pedantic color commentary from Ted). (My mom would have LOVED this.) * Bill admitting, under the duress of Wonderful Christmastime enhanced interrogation, that--although he did NOT commit the backstage murder--he was never a big Til Tuesday fan. * The opening video, namely the imaginary opening to Aimee and Teds TV detective show, Murder, She Sang--complete with theme song. * Everything else. Including neck-hair-raising renditions of Bottled In Cork, and Save Me. Damn, people.
