Higuain nears Arsenal switch after agreeing terms It would appear that Arsene Wenger has finally loosened the Arsenal purse strings as he looks to complete the £22 million transfer of Gonzalo Higuain from Real Madrid. Thiswould be the highest amount ever paid for a transfer by Arsenal, eclipsing the previous£15 million for Andrei Arshavin. Apparently, the Argentine striker has met up with the manager a couple of times and is now convinced that North London is the destination for him after being told he is no longer needed at the Bernabeu. In a previous article, I rated the striker as the third choice after Rooney and Jovetic, both of which would cost in the similar region (maybe Rooney a bit more). Unfortunately, Wenger seems to be sure of this decision having wanted to signhim for a couple of transfer windows now. So he will finally get his player. There is nothing that will give me more pleasure than for Higuain to prove me wrong and be a complete success with the club next season. It’s just that for the past two summer transfer windows, we have seen a central strikercome in, Chamakh and Giroud, but with not really great success. Another thing that has me on the edge is the factthat sometimes when Wengerdesperately wants a player and have chased him for a while, they tend to be dud: Remember Julio Baptista!
