Hijrat Al-Qan’a, a village located 70 km south of Madinah, is a place that does not know electricity. Here, villagers have developed novel ways to keep their bodies cool as they await the arrival of proper electricity and water services. To combat summer temperatures reaching up to 50 degrees Celsius, some senior villagers have taken to soaking blankets in cold water and then using them to cover their feet and legs.
