Hiker missing for a week found safe in Trinity County On October 28, 2014 at approximately 5:00pm the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by Dave Stornetta’s wife and advised the Sheriff’s Office that the family had located Mr. Stornetta via helicopter. Mr. Stornetta appeared to be in good health and did not appear to need medical attention. Dave Stornetta requested that the helicopter transport him back to the family’s hunting camp. Investigators will be contacting Mr. Stornetta once he returns to his residence regarding his location and movement while he was missing. The Sheriff’s Office is awaiting official confirmation of the exact location of where he was located.
