Hillbilly Post..Sunday..Not quite as hot today but still to warm for snowmen and dog sled racing.. Took the wife to the Antique Mall and as amazing as it may seem, she didnt buy anything. I couldnt believe it. Dont think that has ever happened before. Got her home and took her temperature. No fever? Wonder what could be wrong with her. Can you tell Im worried. As Bentley would say,this is epic!.. The Hillbilly Institute of Thinking, aka HIT would like to offer up some Hillbilly Hacks for you tonight. A Hack, for you that dont already know, is a shortcut to accomplish something easier, faster, or cheaper 1. Shower with your clothes on.. Your clothing will get freshened up without the wear and tear from a wash machine making them last longer. It will also save wear and tear on your washer. (Caution: dont use hot water if your clothes are new and tight. The results could be fatal.) 2. Your oven can also be used as a clothes dryer. First remove your oven racks. Preheat the oven to 225 degrees. While waiting on the oven to warm fold wet clothes and place on the oven racks. Single layer of clothing, unless its really thin material like womans frillies. Once preheat is finished, set oven to 200 degrees, open the door and insert the oven racks. Clothing will usually be dry and pressed in about 15 minutes. To check if they are dry, you can hold a cold spoon where the oven vents and see if it fogs up. If it doesnt then the clothes are dry. Remove using oven mitts. (Side benefit, this will make your house smell better if you showered with a nice fragrance body wash.) 3. Mouse traps make good toddler training aids. If you have a door you dont want a toddler to open, tie a mouse trap to the handle. Set it and wait. When the child goes to the door the mouse trap dangling will be the first thing they touch. SNAP!!! That child will never go near that door knob again. (Dont tell the child its a mouse trap. Kids have big mouths) 4. To make training your toddler a bit more interesting you can paint a few mouse traps different colors and place them in other areas that you dont want the child to mess with. Make sure you tell them in a stern voice not to bother that or you will be sorry. After a few SNAPs they will head your warnings instantly. (For particularly hard headed toddlers like redneck toddlers, you might have to upgrade to rat traps.)...Wisdom for the day. Where there is a will there is a way..Peace out.
