Hills Waste have submitted a completely NEW planning application - TopicsExpress

Hills Waste have submitted a completely NEW planning application for their site at Lower Compton, Calne. 14/09744/WCM - To retain and extend Materials Recycling Facility including transfer activities, screening bund and ancillary activities and development. PLEASE HELP US CHALLENGE THIS APPLICATION. This application, if granted, would result in a substantial increase in HGV traffic, with a majority of HGVs passing through Calne, which is already, currently in breach of EU Air Quality directives. The rural location of Lower Compton is not an appropriate site for a facility of this size, which should be located close to major transport routes. The local transport infrastructure does not support a facility as large as is proposed. There are other locations which would offer a more sustainable solution to the problem of dealing with Wiltshires waste. The current planning permission for this site is temporary and due to expire in 2016, which would have an immediate beneficial effect on the air quality in Calne. This planning application needs to be evaluated against that. The noise and vibration resulting from 410 HGVs a day will make the lives of the residents living along the A4 and in Lower Compton intolerable and give rise to significant adverse health effects. There will also be serious impacts on the surrounding towns and villages, including Devizes and Marlborough as there are no bypasses on any of the approach roads to Calne. Please visit the Wiltshire Council website for more info/to submit your objections. wiltshire.gov.uk
