Hillshire Farms Storm Lake plant has a workforce that represents roughly 5% of Storm Lakes economy. Thats a sizable chunk in a small community like this. By offering to continue to support its employees while working to get the plant operational again as quickly as possible, the company has done more than right. Its a refreshing change in a time where it seems as if corporations are constantly looking for ways and excuses to cut costs so their CEOs can afford to buy multiple vacation homes and other unnecessary luxuries while average families are worried about providing for their little ones. I urge everyone to support Hillshire by buying their products (including Sara Lee and Jimmy Dean) whenever possible.
