Hillside Avenue at its transition from Queens to Nassau. The traffic light assembly is NYCDOT and the Cherry Lane sign six feet to the right is Town of North Hempstead. The business with the blue storefront across the street has a Queens address and 718 phone number, and the business with the brown storefront immediately to the right has a Nassau address and 516 phone number. The gas station behind me has a Queens address and 516 number. Cherry Lane, which is contained entirely in Nassau, aligns south of Hillside opposite to Langdale Street (left of photo), which is contained entirely in Queens. The city line shifts from a NW-SE orientation north of Hillside to a NE-SW orientation south of it. So by all appearances, the NYCDOT traffic light assembly is in Nassau County. Maybe it was allowed to be in electronic coordination with another such assembly across Hillside to serve cross traffic on Langdale. In any event, its virtually impossible to trace the actual path of the city line at this point based on visual clues.
