Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Honors Beethoven - TopicsExpress

Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra Honors Beethoven The Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of Music Director and Conductor John Morris Russell, will continue the orchestra’s 33rd season, “Music of Dreams and Drama,” by performing Beethoven’s beloved Fifth Symphony, an intensely emotional journey from tragedy to triumph, which begins with the most famous four notes in classical music. Also on the program will be Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s 1977 Cantus in Memory of Benjamin Britten and Antonin Dvorak’s Serenade for Strings, both ethereal works for string orchestra. The concert will be held on Sunday, November 16 at 4 pm and Monday, November 17 at 8 pm in Hilton Heads First Presbyterian Church. Maestro Russell will conduct a pre-concert chat one hour before each concert. A reception for the performers and audience will follow the concert in the church’s Gathering Space. Tickets for Symphony Under the Stars, The Music of James Bond – Bond and Beyond, will go on sale November 3, 2014. The event will be held on April 7 and 8, 2015 under the tent at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn. Due to an expected crowd, tickets are going on sale early to determine if a larger tent size will be needed. Tickets for tables of ten under the tent will be $80 and $70 each based on location, and new additional seating options will be available. Concert seating at $60 and $50 allows patrons to come for the concert only or to bring refreshments to be enjoyed at the museum’s Pavilion. We have also added outside lawn seating at $25. Bring your lawn chair or blanket. “Bond and Beyond” was designed by our own JMR for the Cincinnati Pops, and was sold out in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary, so reserve your tickets now! Put together your table of 10, or purchase your concert seats early as tickets inside the tent will be limited. Lawn seating will be available up to and including the day of the event. Concert tickets are $25, $40, and $50. Reduced prices are available for children and their accompanying parent. Call the Hilton Head Symphony office at (843)842-2055 to purchase tickets, or log into the orchestra web site at hhso.org. Program notes by Joseph and Elizabeth Khan are available on the website before each performance. ### CALENDAR OF EVENTS HILTON HEAD SYMPHONY ORCHESTA “Music of Dreams and Drama!” Sunday, November 16 - 4 pm and Monday, November 17 - 8 pm “Fate and Victory: Beethoven” First Presbyterian Church, Hilton Head Island 540 W.
