Hindi/ Hindu or Indian or Bhartiya The British Colonisers - TopicsExpress

Hindi/ Hindu or Indian or Bhartiya The British Colonisers defined us as Indians . Those who do not speak English can not Identify with that word to describe ourselves . Arabs who have never visited India describe us as Hindi . But we can not relate to it because most of us have never been to Arabia or Turkey or Turkmenistan . The word Hindu became mainstream around 1925 . Largely because the innocents that were slaughtered/ enslaved by invaders in Hindukush were described as Hindu .The name Hindu Kush in Farsi/Parsi literally means Kills the Hindu, a reminder of the days when Indian slaves from the Indian subcontinent (whom their enslavers referred to as Hindus died in the harsh weather typical of the Afghan mountains while being transported to Central Asia . Hindu is how we are referred to by those who come from North of Khyber . Bharatiya is derived from Descendents of Bharat . Wonder how many ethnicities in India can claim to be that ? Well . The Consitution says India, that is Bharat . A consensus that is 62 years old . You are not happy , change it . I guess , in a democracy you have to go by majority view . I am happy being called all of the above although I am not qualified to be any of the above .
