Hindi movie Review : Nasha – Cheesy skin show Release date: 26 July 2013 Producer : Surendra Suneja Director : Amit Saxena Music Director : Sachin Kulkarni Starring: Poonam Pandey, Shivam Amit Saxena, who earlier helmed the very successful John Abraham – Bipasha Basu starrer ‘Jism’, is back with another exotic thriller in ‘Nasha’. The film has the controversy queen Poonam Pandey in the main lead and accordingly the posters and trailers of the film have already generated a lot of buzz. Let’s see how the film is. Story: Nasha is story of the 18 year old Sahil (Shivam) who studies in Panchgani and falls in love with his 25 year old art teacher Ankita played by none other than Poonam Pandey. The young boy falls head over heels in love with her and eventually ends up in a physical relationship with her. However, his dreams come crashing down when Ankita’s longtime boyfriend Samuel comes to meet her and Sahil ends up intensely envying Samuel and his closeness with Ankita. Pretty soon, Ankita comes to know about the real intentions of Samuel that forces her to break up their five year long affair. Now will Sahil be able to tell Ankita his intense feelings for her or will the age difference between them stand as an obstacle? The answers to these questions form the rest of Nasha. Positive Points: Director Amit Saxena, based on the success of his Bipasha and John starrer Jism, very cleverly chooses the cast of Nasha. Popular model Poonam Pandey who has successfully created her own male fan base with her sensational statements, stripping controversies and bold pictures on Twitter will definitely ensure a good opening for the film thanks to her popularity. Speaking of performances, Poonam is quite confident in front of the camera even while performing intimate scenes. Infact, the she doesn’t have the inherent awkwardness of debutante at all. The young Shivam also supports the actress in the intimate sequences efficiently while actors who play Shivam’s friends have done their parts well. Apart from all the bold scenes in the film, the director also narrates a passionate love story between an 18-year-old boy and a 25-year-old girl and the story accurately captures the mindset of an 18-year old. Negative Points: As one can guess from the film promos, the movie is definitely not a family film as the content is too bold for normal crowds. The director tries to tell a love story but all that the audiences can see is pure intimacy. Amit has tried a concept that is not so common in Bollywood but he fails miserably. The movie portrays the youth of today who are more inclined towards physical intimacy rather than true love. Even though Poonam appears confident in front of the camera, her acting is not upto the mark. All she is good at is showing off her body and appearing very seductive. The guy playing Poonam’s longtime boyfriend is not convincing and it looks like he was forced to speak out his lines. Even though Shivam looks innocent, the innocence is lost somewhere in the movie. Technical Aspects: The direction by Amit is upto the mark and he gives it his best with the execution and storytelling. However, the performances lack substance. The songs of the film go in contrast to the film’s theme. The tracks composed by Sangeet and Siddharth are romantic and soothing especially the romantic number ‘Tera Nasha’ that comes as a surprise and fits well in the screenplay. The cinematography is just about OK while the screenplay and storytelling could have been a bit better. The first half is all about bold songs and sequences and the second half tells a story which could have easily been a little shorter. Verdict: Overall, Nasha is for those who love cheesy skin show. If you are a hard-core Poonam Pandey fan and rigorously follow her on Twitter, then Nasha could be your visual treat. Rating – 2.5/5 courtesy : bollywood3
