The Dee family were of Scotch & German ancestry. He was married in Vermont 7 May 1835 to Mary Maria Walker, daughter of Lewis & Mary Potter Walker. Hiram died 5 Mar 1863 from a disease contracted while in the army. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a stanch Republican. Their children were; Warren W, Charles E, Edgar, Louisa, Clara, James, Lawrence W, & Franklin N Dee.
