Hiram Dee Civil War Veteran - Dugger Cemetery, St. Jacob, IL Birth: Oct. 17, 1812 Georgia Franklin County Vermont, USA Death: Mar. 5, 1863 Saint Jacob Madison County Illinois, USA According to the history of Mulberry Grove, Hiram was born in Vermont, son of Washington & Lucy Cooley Dee. The Dee family were of Scotch & German ancestry. He was married in Vermont 7 May 1835 to Mary Maria Walker, daughter of Lewis & Mary Potter Walker. Hiram died 5 Mar 1863 from a disease contracted while in the army. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a stanch Republican. Their children were; Warren W, Charles E, Edgar, Louisa, Clara, James, Lawrence W, & Franklin N Dee.
