His Eminence the Mufti of Uganda Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje has reiterated his call for Muslim unity in Uganda saying that a united Ummah is stronger than a fragmented one. The Mufti said this while addressing thousands of Muslims who turned up at the UMSC Headquarters Old Kampala for this year’s Mauledi organised to celebrate the birth of the Noble Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Stressing the point of unity under the Presidential initiative or the popular Kabwegyere report, the Mufti said unity cannot just be imposed on Muslims; they should love it, believe in it and embrace it by their own will. He said UMSC Leadership has already embraced unity and opened its doors to all peace loving Muslims. He blasted clerics who preach hatred among Muslims saying that they should resort to the ‘gospel’ of love, unity and peace. The Mufti informed his audience that UMSC is making significant progress especially in terms of service delivery and council revenue. He said UMSC has recruited competent people in all its old and newly created departments noting that there are also professionals in the council organs like the General Assembly, Executive and Majilis Ulama.
