His death wont create the headlines of a Robin Williams, but he was an awfully good character actor. Edward Herrmann has passed away at the age of 71. He died from the effects of brain cancer earlier today. Herrmann did fine work in dozens of films, but is perhaps best remembered for his turn as the surprising villain in the 1980s horror classic, The Lost Boys. He also starred in the HBO baseball film, Soul of the Game, portraying Branch Rickey. Herrmann was equally believable as both a villain and a good guy. And that is perhaps the litmus test of any actor. Can you portray both ends of the good vs.evil spectrum? Edward Herrmann certainly could. imdb/name/nm0001346/?ref_=hm_nw_tp1_lk1
