Hisham spreads selfie diplomacy to defence ministers PETALING JAYA (May 21): The selfie trend has finally caught up with the Asean politicians. Malaysias Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein was busy taking selfies with the Defence Ministers from the Asean countries and joked that he was using “selfie diplomacy” to “reduce tensions in the South China Sea.” Hishammuddin took the selfies while attending the 8th Asean Defence Ministers Meeting held in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar yesterday. Hishammuddin posted a few selfies of him with the Defence Ministers of Asean countries, including Brunei’s Pehin Dato Mohammad Yasmin Umar, Singapore’s Dr Ng Eng Hen, Myanmar’s General Wai Lwin, China’s General Chang Wanquan, and a group selfie with Yasmin and Vietnam’s General Phung Quang Thanh. The ministers can be seen wearing big smiles on their faces. Hishamuddins followers on twitter had positive remarks about the selfies.
