Historical LOLs: 1776 Edition When Gentleman Johnny Burgoyne arrived on the scene of the American colonies in 1777, it seems he was convinced that nothing would get things between him and the irate colonials off on the right foot quite like a lofty proclamation worded in his typically overbearing and grandiloquent style. We can also reasonably presume that few at the time had been adequately warned about the American brand of indignation and sarcasm. Hilarity ensues as we see a prim and proper and proud of it British official get trolled in truly epic fashion:
