History Made at Allora Historic day today for Allora, regardless of your opinions of Alloras new water supply. At 9.00 am this morning, along with the Mayor Peter Blundell, at the push of a button we opened the new Allora water supply, switched on from the SDRC Freestone Road water facility in Warwick. From there we headed for Allora and carried out a small ceremony to celebrate the switching on of the new water supply on the site were Alloras reticulated water system was opened back on Saturday may 29th, 1965 by the Honourable A.R. Fletcher M.L.A.. The new water supply is a $3.1 million project, which began in November last year, will ensure Allora has a reliable and high quality water supply now and in to the future. The total project has been a massive undertaking that has seen a 25 kilometre pipeline run from the Freestone Rd Reservoir through to Womina/Willowvale Road, to the west of Mount Marshall and then directly along the New England Highway to Allora made up of over 4,100 pipes with a pumping rate of 11.5 litres /second. Along with the pipeline works, there were specialist external services for the design of the entire system, construction of pump station building, pump sets supply and installation, construction of balance tank at Willowvale Womina Road, and telemetry system. The project is a investment in the future because the design of the project ensures a usable service life for many years.
