History did not forgive General Dyer. And yet History has again repeated itself !! The Jalianwalabag massacre on 13Th April 1919... A horrific day in the history of British India !! General Dyer opened fire on a non violent , harmless gathering of people in a park , who were protesting against the Rowlatt Act...and thousands died . Do w e remember ??? The atrocity of the police in JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY , a respectable University campus in Calcutta, where the students were staging a non violent protest against the RAPE of a fellow student , reminds me of that Amritsar massacre so many years back !!! And this is happening in the so called FREE INDIA !!! And Calcutta civilians are watching in silence. The British have left guys....what happened ??? General Dyer can be from any soil...accept that. India has homed many such and worse !! Calcuttas Bhadrolok generation ...the respectable Brown sahibs who not only held their forks and spoons with pride but had the enlightened and evolved mind that came from compassion, love, knowledge of the world and pride in ones own country....IS GONE . There is only anarchy and loss of values. An average Bengali is excellent in fighting within his own family ...He roars there like a lion ... but when it comes to larger issues , they whimper !! A city/ a community which is fast losing family values , morality ,honesty...see it in the TV shows, in the decadent literature it produces, the Cinemas that it airs...all reflection of lost glory !! So what can we expect more than this !! We grew up in a beautiful Calcutta....We were proud to be Bengalis !! Now I am so so angry !!!!! BUT FIGHT oh awesome students of JU....fight ...for the day u stop fighting for the right, you cease to live !!! GOD BE WITH YOU...my hands are folded in prayer .
