Moving past the laudable historic puritanical purge of establishing Zia and the justified degradation of Mujib to what he actually is ... Its clear BNP want to de-legitimize Mujib, and it is indeed laudable. But the majority of voters want assurance that the future would be brighter. Its politics, not a historic puritanical movement. Winning elections should be the goal. Besides, its not that Zia is unpopular, its just that people have qualms over the current leadership of BNP and want assurance that things would be better in the future. They can delegitimize mujib all they want, but thats not going to win votes. Thatd increase sympathy, but not votes. Did the people of Bengal in 1905 care about 1857 ?
