History of 20th Century Film at saving gigi. Continuing our Sunday night series, rolling through decade by decade with 2 films/Sundays per decade. Hitting the tail end of the 30s with Marcel Carnes Port of Shadows, the first talky of the series, though the last two have had sound built in through effects and music, but still having to read as it is, of course, in french subtitles. Poetic realism at its finest. Early film noir. Some of the best noirists came out of France. Show starts at 8:20 every Sunday, but the first of the month, when we have rockabilly legend Ronnie Hayward come in and bust up the joint. Food, booze and film. Conversing during the film is not frowned upon.
