History of DulaangSibol Performing Ensemble By: Jacques Axid A. Rosello DulaangSibol Performing Ensemble was originated from Matina Central Elementary School. Members of the group are student from this school also we have different talents in singing, dancing, acting and playing instrument. Matina Central Dance Troupe was the first name of the DulaangSibol Performing Ensemble, this dance troupe starts at auditioning new performers of the school. There was audition for lumad dance, moro dance and also folk dance conducted by Sir Ogie, Sir Raleon and Sir Glenn. All of the members are still grade 4 students. Our coordinator was Mrs. PerlaPanlilio who is also a teacher of Matina Central Elementary School. The first competition that the group joined was the Mindanao Indigenous Dance Festival at SM Ecoland, who was the major event of the Kadayawan Festival. A lot of schools joined of this prestigious event. By this, we members of the group performed the story of Mamanwa entitled “Full Moon” the hunger and lack of land that builds the houses of the tribe. We pass through the elimination and we actually represent the Matina Central Elementary School for the finals. By the end of the event we are the CHAMPION for the junior category out of 7 schools outside and inside Davao City. Matina Central Dance Troupe also joined for the Pasko Fiesta saDabaw. The concept was about the gifts that been given to the person who deserves to be given and the symbol of the Christmas tree that portraying the beautiful Christmas season. We also got the 2nd prize for the event. After that we also joined the ArawngDabaw with the concept of the freedom of the children to play and the beautiful environment we have now. We are also 2nd prize for this event. We joined again the event of the Kadayawan Festival but it’s the Indak-indaksaKadalanan and Mindanao Indigenous Dance Festival. We also repeat the story of Mamanwa Tribe the “Full Moon” and the story that we portrayed for the Mindanao Indigenous Festival was the subanen tribe entitled “Lumbia”, the story of the stingy people of the tribe. We also again joined the Pasko Fiesta saDabaw. Portraying the importance of giving to the person who was begging for the what is the symbol of the star to them and the letters that must given to the person who misses his/her family. We also got the 2nd prize for the event. After we graduated, we helped the Matina Central Elementary School to build again new dancers or performers of the school. Waiting for another performance that will come, we actually build the Matina Central Alumni Dance Troupe but a lot of negative statements that we heard because we are not elementary students. But we don’t care what the people said. We always practice at the gym of the Matina Central Elementary Schoolbut without knowing we are building a new group of performers so we are preparing for the performance for the opening of the Matina Central Alumni Dance Troupe. October 4, 2010, we have a performance at the People’s Park. New environment of the performing arts, new learnings and new beginning that our group will be encountered. A lot of people watched our performance, family, performers and artists. We have a lot of dance that we showed from the lumad, contemporary and the moro dances. After the performance, without knowing our artistic director Mr. Raleon Monsanto stated the new name of the group the DulaangSibol Performing Ensemble! Now, we are always invade, we are always shared our talents and by this our legacy, passion, and the family that brings the group still continuing up to the end!
