History of the Czech beaded #Christmas ornaments. These shown are my private collection, most date over 100 years old. The Czechoslovakians learned how to make beautiful glass beads in the mid 1800s. They strung beads together and created gorgeous glass ornaments. The craftsman who built these made their ornaments come to life. When displayed on a tree they were placed near candles which caused them to dance and move. Airplanes soared, butterflies danced, and the beads shimmered in different colors from the candlelight. I love my small collection - I have a large lobster as shown in one of the photographs, he jiggles when moved. My other Czech ornaments include a birdhouse, late 1800s bicycle, and and airplane.
