History of the NORTH AMERICAN SPORTS CAR RACING ,THE EARLY YEARS FB group. After launching the Canadian American Challenge Cup Series 1966 to 1974 Fan Group on March 14th 2014, wont get into that here, either go to that group for the details or on my homepage where that story is posted. Then the UNITED STATES ROAD RACING CHAMPIONSHIP 1963 TO 1968 FAN GROUP on March 20th , 2014 again go there or to my homepage for that story,this group was launched. The Can Am group covered well the Can Am, the USRRC started in 1963 taking over for the USAC Sports Car Championship which ended in 1962, but there was the series of open sports car races on the west coast and the Bridgehampton races, the Watkins Glen races, the Nassau races, the Cuban races, Road America and the Carrera PanAmerica races so this group was intended to cover them but I screwed up, the West Coast opens remained until 66, the Mosport races were also not a part of the USRRC, SO THE GROUP EXPANDED to the end of 65 for non aligned races but still Daytona and Sebring after 65 were locked out so we went to 68, with the launching of our Smugglers Blues IMSA Racing 1971 to 1987 on May 28th this group expanded its focus of Watkins Glen, Daytona and Sebring until IMSA started sanctioning those events. The biggest problem this group had was getting a membership base, unlike our Can Am and USRRC sister groups where membership soared, this one lagged in the dozen member range then expanded to 35 and now is at 330, posting content was an issue too but that has gone away, about the only other issue was my misspelling of Carroll Shelbys name by accident in a special group tribute. Really no other major issues, wiped out the photo police as in our other groups, no major issues except about a total of maybe 6 spammers got through the gates. Oh yeah I forgot, pleading for single photo per posting except in album form went unheeded, it is now a RULE and Ill take down any that show up, we dont have cliques here, singles let you see a photo without clicking back and forth, doesnt cost anything except maybe a little extra time. oh yeah, when I posted a question using that FB feature not too many took the time to vote because it wasnt a photo and a blurb of text.All in all Im happy with the direction of the group except why some long ter members have yet to respond to repeated private message, group posted text messages and group [posted photos with text attempting to contact them about the new group policy in ALL TEN GROUPS NOW IN OUR FAMILY ABOUT HAVING TO BE ON MY FRIENDS LIST BY AUGUST 1ST OR RISK BEING REMOVED FROM THE MEMBERSHIP ROLLS, I JUST DONT GET THAT but Im not going to press the issue anymore, IT WILL BE THEIR LOSS NOT OURS AS NUMBERS DONT MEAN SQUAT..
