Hit report, December 30th 2014. Cold conditions with thick ice on the roads, the type of dangerous conditions that you wouldnt take you horse out in, if you cared about it that is......... So obviously The Flint and Denbigh were out at Coed Coch (in the hills above Colwyn Bay). Last time the hunt were here their tried to give the sabs the slip and go out the back entrance of the estate and spent the day trying to hide in the hills (though they failed) sabs were onto this today and waited for the hunt at the back entrance. Sabs could see the hunt at the estate and stayed monitoring the hunt that seemed reluctant to leave the meet. Around 11.45am and finally some movement, hound send into a wooded area of the estate and a lone rider sent in the direction on the sabs to send back any fox in the direction of the hound that may have been flushed this way. The rider soon moved off and joied back with the rest of the field. One of our vehicles moved off to see it the hunt would leave the estate by the front entrance. Then a fox came running down the road and under a gate and ran towards the hills, sabs quickly tried to cover the foxes trail with a lemon and water based stray, but soon noticed that the hounds were only about one minute behind.... Only about 3 of the hound picked up on the fox and the rest of the pack went slightly the wrong way. We believe the fox was brought enough time to give the hunt the slip this time. Huntmaster Jeremy Scatterpack Reed was with the main pack and in his usually banterish mood,(though he must be furious inside that sabs are everywhere he turns) Jezza cracked a joke about sabs hadnt got food poisoning from their nut roasts...... The hunt then headed to the hills but didnt seem to be doing much apart from trying to hide from sabs.... its a sorry state of affairs..... Hounds went into cry a couple of time but not for long periods and sabs were near enough to use some sab tactic. Scatterpack and his whipper-in Josh, Greengrass and The really strange gamekeeper (ill share the pic of him from last season doing a funny dance with his fly down) and Terrierman Rob, then took the pack down the road through the village of Betwys yn Rhos through oncoming traffic as proud as anything (they must have some thick skin or just dont know they are in a tiny minority of around 20% of people who agree with hunting) Hunt then headed back to the meet but not before Jeremy Scatterpack crack another joke about hoping we got some better perfume than that citronella........ We stayed till the hunt left. thanks for all your support please keep sharing our funding appeal you really do make a massive difference gogetfunding/project/fuel-fund-for-north-wales-hunt-sabs
