Hitting the hay - I am hesitant; I dont want to jinx anything but...the air quality in my home is getting better and better. I get a faint whiff/taste of the old acrid vapor now and then but then it disappears. I know whats happening; its off gassing from wall voids, carpet padding.... I need to rent an industrial carpet cleaner and a couple gallons of Natures Miracle Stain and Odor killer - Hold moly that stuff is amazing! Its an enzyme based liquid that kills odors like crazy. It eliminates protein based and bodily fluid type odors, immediately. I had a stinky empty can from the cat food Bear ate; I washed it out and set it in the sink to later put into the recycle bag - I forgot, what with all the stuff happening this week and it sat in the sink for 2 days (no food in it!). It was pretty ripe smelling. I sprayed some of this in it and the smell of fish was gone - it smelled like nothing had been in it. I bought this house with this light beige berber carpet, that wasnt that great looking when I moved in. It shows everything and face it, I am a bachelor - I like vacuuming but my back hates it. And since Oct, its been a bad idea to vacuum because it pulled the smell even worse into the house (I have a 10 year old Regina vacuum that would rival a Dyson! It sucks, in a good way LOL!). I have not had one iota of success cleaning my light beige berber carpet. I have had stanley steamer here twice in the past 12 years, with zero success. I have used all kinds of carpet cleaner solutions, with little to no success. But today, I thought, what the hell and sprayed a little of what I had left of my bottle of Natures Miracle on a stain on the carpet nothing has made a dent in. Just a small spray in the center of it then rubbed in a circle with a wet wash cloth. It immediately brightened up. I thought, this will not last....its been over 12 hours and on this mud/dirt tracked carpet from all the plumbers, handyman, me, the cats...and this small circle of bright, clean carpet from just a small spray of that stuff is still there - I am looking at it now. Wow. Its 4-5 shades brighter. I didnt know this carpet was really that light of a beige. On June 8th, my handyman tromped in here with muddy shoes and wasted it even worse! Its bad...but I think I can get it shaped up and looking great not to mention how well this stuff kills odors. Im buying 2 gallons of it when I can and using it to clean these carpets! Well, I am off - I will report on the progress of the vapor remedy tomorrow. Maybe I can sleep again tonight like I did last night and wake up less often expecting to grab a mask and my inhaler.
