Hmm 2015 what are you up to, the poor fire fighting volunteers are in their 5th day of heroics 12 hour shifts one night one day. The night team are trying to sleep in tents at Nairne, in the hills away from the fire, with the current temp 39.8 the old money 103.6F and rising. On the 1st it topped at 37C (98.6F), 2nd 44.1C (111.4F) the day the fires started with the winds changing in all directions, 3rd 38.2C (100.*F), 4th 30.5 C (86.9F), 5th 34.9C (94.8 F), 6th 39.4C (102.9F) and today its 39.8C (103.6F). Those heroes who volunteer are entitled to half pay from their employers for 5 days tomorrow on they have no pay entitlement. They have coped with twelve hour shifts in these temperatures in helmets, heavy protective boots and coverall overalls. Astonishing effort. Today is very high risk, tomorrow at 34.2 not much better. Let us pray the low temperatures and rain promised for Friday - Sunday come in to allow them to begin to relax.
