Hmm... Something odd has happened to me. Yesterday as I packed up all my belongings and books and papers to head home to the cafe, I notice a parcel sitting by the door just outside the schoolhouse. With a keen smile, I picked up the small item and opened it. It was a piece of jewelry. It was so beautiful indeed! The pendant on its silver chain was a small butterfly. I was suspicious but giddy as I suspected a certain Mountie to be the culprit. Ambling towards the cafe, I stopped in at the jail and thanked Jack Thornton, trying not to let on to him about the item too much. He was oblivious to the matter. I was confused and prodded him further, suspecting that he was untruthfully denying having given me the gift. Anyway, I proceeded homeward. I could focus on nothing but the fact that perhaps Jack had not been the one who had given the gift. This fact confused me even further, and now I remain determined as ever to discover who has given me the gift. TO BE CONTINUED
