Hmmm, where to start..... let go with Levi first. Sam has done an amazing job with that horse. The entire family has. When they first called me about him, I was sure it would be interesting. And I was right. Levi is a sport draft and is big even for that breed. When acting like a maniac he appears even bigger. He was absolutely terrified of everyone and everything and was very dangerous to approach, let along touch him or do anything with him. With the help of everyone is the family, he progressed at a wonderful pace, then a setback. A saddle rolling under him put him into space and gave him excuses to act like a nut again. I will always recall the day I put the lie to his account, it was really funny to see his stories exposed. Since then, he has become a totally different horse. He lives calm & happy in his herd and has the company of the most dedicated group of young girls that any barn can imagine. They have taught him some pretty amazing things, like mounting him by jumping on his butt, and getting down the same way. Standing on his back, jumping him into the barn bareback, trail riding by 11 year olds and carrying riders double, plus all the arena work. And laying on his back in the stall, using him for a comfy lounging space. The list goes on, but more than anything else, this horse fell by accident into the best possible hands. In addition is Butterscotch, whom we found in Virginia last year. I havent seen much of him, but all the accounts of him being trail ridden double by children indicate he is also doing well. The main character in this drama is Sam, her family has been instrumental in making this happen, but the true winner here is Samantha. She has had to overcome fears, frustrations & frights to get this far. The road has not been an easy one but perseverance has certainly paid off.
