Hmmmm.... For those friends who think Obamacare is such a bad thing. Read this. One point that those against Obamacare make is the cost of insuring the large number of people living at the poverty level. Last year hospitals lost almost 42 billion in unpaid hospital bills. (Is it any wonder medical costs are outrageous?) Those of us who are using and paying are the ones eating these costs. Obamacare creates a system where costs are spread across larger numbers of people, not just the shrinking number of people who can afford insurance. Now, states that are working to not adopt Obamacare are losing hospitals which translates to lower levels of care, more unemployed people, etc. On a somewhat related note, I find it somewhat humorous that the conservative right is sold as being largely Christian, but is so against making sure that everyone has the very basic necessities to live. Remember that love thy neighbor thing? Btw: I know that this is a little bit of a disjointed rant, but I just had to release some frustration.
