Holbrook Sports U18s up and running An Ollie Naylor masterclass guided Holbrook Sports U18s to an impressive 6-2 away win over Allestree Junior Colts in Derby City League Junior Division 1. After the previous weeks’ narrow loss, Sports were in no mood for compromise and started the game with intent, indeed going close with their first attack of the game. However, Holbrook didn’t have to wait long to break the deadlock after some excellent interchange play between Jackson and Bradley lead to Naylor’s crisp finish from just outside the box. From that point forward the Brookies dominated the game with Jackson on the wing tormenting the Allestree defence. Indeed it was Jackson that netted the second on the quarter hour, wrong footing the keeper from close range. Jacksons second and Sports third wasn’t far behind, with a powerful header evading the keeper from wing back Alex Walker’s cross. Holbrook were now running riot, attacking at will, with the masterful Naylor at the heart of all things good .The first half rout was complete when captain Adam Attwater converted a free kick from 20 yards. Sports started the second half slowly and their complacency was punished by the home team with a breakaway goal. Stung into action, Holbrook scored virtually straight from the restart, with a Naylor cross expertly headed goalward by American ex pat Owen Ludlow, restoring Sports 4 goal advantage. The remainder of the half was dominated by Holbrook, peppering the opposition goal from all angles, but it was man of the match Ollie Naylor that scored the goal of the game. A Maradona’esque dribble through half of the Allestree team culminating in a delightful chip over the advancing keeper. The travelling support were in raptures. Just as the final whistle was about to blow a defensive lapse let Allestree in for their second, but that didn’t detract from an excellent team display from Holbrook.
