Hold Schools Accountable for Students With LD. TELL YOUR SENATOR - TopicsExpress

Hold Schools Accountable for Students With LD. TELL YOUR SENATOR NOW. Congress is debating right now whether to have full accountability for students with disabilities in the reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). In the Senate, a powerful bill called the Strengthening America’s Schools Act (SASA) was introduced to reauthorize ESEA. This bill moves in the right direction by setting targets in reading and math as well as graduation goals for ALL students, and by providing targeted support for students who are struggling, including students with disabilities. Unfortunately, some senators plan to offer a substitute bill and damaging amendments to SASA that weaken accountability and lower expectations for students with learning disabilities. Please tell your senator to vote for SASA and against any bills or amendments that fail to hold schools accountable for students with disabilities. Make a bigger impact on Congress by forwarding this message or sharing it on Facebook and Twitter.
