Hold to Hope Hebrews 10:23 “Without wavering, let us hold tightly to the hope we say we have, for God can be trusted to keep his promise” Hebrews 10:23 (NLT). This is the heart cry of so many people who face seemingly insurmountable struggles in their daily lives; it’s a cry of hope, a cry of perseverance, a cry to trust God to keep His word. When the storms of life come, this is a good verse to grasp hold of and not let go. Each of us today can join the sentiments of the early Christians as they determined to hold tightly to their hope in God. I’ve found that in those dark moments in my life, the ones where I join the Psalmist in wondering what’s taking God so long to answer my cries for help, that I need to make this verse my mantra: Hold tight to the Hope in Jesus and rest assured that God can be trusted to keep His promises. But how do I know I can trust God? Well, by reading the Bible for myself, by bringing it to life with my own eyes, by tasting His Word and seeing that it’s true, by knowing it with my heart; because the Bible is one long story of how God kept promise after promise culminating in the fulfillment of His ultimate promise to redeem us from a world filled with sin. Reading the Bible and seeing how God kept His promises from cover to cover builds my faith additionally when I look back on my own life; when I do, I can see His gentle hand at work, holding me up and constantly drawing me closer to Him, but most of all, I can see that He always keeps His promises. In those times when life tries to drag me down, I review His work in my life and rest assured that this same God Who kept His promise to redeem me is keeping His promise to walk with me through the troubled times and guide me on the right path. So join me at the beginning of this new year as I chose to follow the advice of Hebrews 10:23—to hold tightly to the hope I say I have, to rest assured that God can be trusted to keep His promises
