Holders Sangharsh set to retain the crown Sangharsh Kreeda Mandal from Goregaon, the defending champions in both the men’s as well as women’s sections, inched closer to retaining both the titles in the Poinsur Gymkhana’s 6th Open Kabaddi tournament, held at Country Parle Garden, Opposite Tata Steel (Borivali East) on Friday night. Sangharsh women’s team had tough time against Aaradya Mandal before they made the last four stage with a 12-9 win. But the toughest of the lot in the women’s semifinalists is the Railways Policewomen, who virtually roughed up Borivali’s Om Sai before beating them 39-19. However, Sangharsh men’s outfit outplayed Kunbhi Sena, also from Goregaon 17-6 in the ‘A’ section, and will face Chembur’s Sahasi Mandal, who thrashed Nav Maharashtra from Borivali 24-3 in the other semifinal, who will certainly try to provide tough opposition to the holders. In the men’s “B” section, favourite Kranti Mandal survived the last few seconds before they overpowered Kandavali’s Sri Bhaveshwari 20-19. They take on Borivali’s Prashant Mandal, who beat Jolly Sports Club 35-8.
