#Holdinghands: Lets reflect on habits today. What habits are you - TopicsExpress

#Holdinghands: Lets reflect on habits today. What habits are you forming? Do you have any principles you live by, or the wind decides which direction to take you? My last update was about retirement, something most of us never think about until age threatens us. Those in your twenties on this page, you are the most advantaged lost. If you read my posts and you are in this age group, take heed, otherwise, rest assured, at some point, panic will set in. We need no prophet to tell us we are ageing. Age is a constant, and with each year, whether someone wishes you birthday greetings or not, whether you eat cake or not, the fact remains that you have added another year. With that year is experience you bag. If there is anything I celebrate each year as I mark my birthday, it is either the consistent habit I have nurtured or something new I learnt. As a principle, each new thing I learn, provided it is clearly productive, I apply. This application has over the years taught me life application principles that help. Whilst for example, I have always tried to live healthy, trying consistence at the gym, kicking out sugar and sodas out of my diet, and knowing the importance of vegetables, this year has specifically been useful in terms of discovering a better way of eating my vegetables: Juicing. With it, I discovered individuals with similar passion, and I decided I need to follow their posts. It has been exciting. Whilst I used to have good water drinking habits, fruit consumption habits, vegetables were not really great. After all, growing up, the vegetables I ate were always cooked, and that is what I knew. Little wonder, those I was raised with sometimes think, I am crazy. With the new habit, I have had to invest. I have discovered websites on juicing. I had to purchase a juicer, beyond the blender, and I found someone who consistently supplies me with organic stuff. Realizing that my budget for organic stuff became predictable, I cut out the gym, and opted for road work for which I don’t have to pay. Friends, whatever it is you are interested in, find time to invest in that particular aspect. I once read in Ken Blanchard’s book, The One Minute Manager, if you spend one hour everyday on a subject, you become an expert at it. What are you becoming an expert at? People who succeed in whatever they are doing, it is not happening accidentally. They are investing time in forming habits, learning principles, and applying them. Unfortunately application does not always come easy. It is the reason people have so much head knowledge that when you listen to them you are amazed. However, when you get to know them better, you discover nothing of what they bubble is playing out in their lives. Avoid such company, otherwise you will end up bubbling along, and you will keep wondering why things are not changing for you (I hope to one day muse about company). I am amazed that in Holding each other’s hands all the way, with a few months, each one of us committed to the process has something new we are celebrating. We are not wasting time at all. A great day to you all.
