Holiday Fishing Report Let me start off by wishing all of my customers, family, and friends Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. Much of what I do would not have been possible without you and for that I thank you. I hope to make some great memories with you in the coming year. Now unto the holiday fishing report! I have been getting calls for tarpon trips and we are going to do our first trip this upcoming week so stay tuned for that. What we are sure of have been the kingfish. We have been averaging anywhere from 4-10 fish per trip. Easily making limit in most instances in a short amount of time. Although the fish have not been huge they have shown up in good numbers. I would suspect that if we had some current in on the reef we would be able to put up even better numbers. In between king bites we have caught some sailfish not huge numbers but we are lacking blue water and current which has slowed the bite some. Right now we are being forced to fish offshore in about 300-400 ‘of water to find sails. The numbers should show steady improvement as the year continues and some current pushes onto the reef. If you have fished with me in the past you know I love to meat fish and that is what I have been doing that past couple of weeks. Grouper, mutton, amberjacks, and mahi-mahi have definitely found their way into the fish box. Currently I am booked up till well past the New Year and several of those trips we will be concentrating on grouper due to the season shutting down on January 1. So if you after some great eating fish you only have a couple of days left to get out and catch yourself some grouper. Well that is it for now please remember to take a second and think about our men and women serving overseas who are unable to be with their families so that we can enjoy a safe holiday with ours. To those men and women THANK YOU for all that you do and sacrifice, you are always in my prayers. Until next time, best of luck… Capt. Gil Gutierrez, Lucky Fishing Charters.
