Holiday travel will be interesting this week. Low pressure will - TopicsExpress

Holiday travel will be interesting this week. Low pressure will track through the region... from around Kansas, through Southeastern Iowa and then through the Great Lakes. This system will strengthen as it tracks to the northeast and will slow down. We will be have mainly rain today, although some sleet and snow will mix in. Highs will be in the upper 30s to mid 40s and winds will be breezy from the southeast at 10-20 mph. Light rain and snow track through tonight with lows around the freezing mark, although roads will probably stay wet over most of the viewing area. More light rain and snow are possible Tuesday. Snowfall amounts will depend on when it changes to snow and how quickly the system tracks through. Right now, most of us look like we will have very little snow sticking, although northwest counties may have a couple of inches by the time this thing moves away. The warmest temperatures on Tuesday will be in the morning then steady or falling in the afternoon as the low tracks through the state and the winds switch around. We will have some light snow showers into Wednesday but Christmas Day looks dry. And the winds dont look quite as strong for Santa, so he can save fuel on the Reindeer. Another system will track through the area on Friday with a chance of snow. Highs will drop into the low 20s for the weekend. #drivecarefully #gettograndmashousesafely
