Hollywood seems to have been permeated by a movie (Comedy) that addresses racism in this country and the poor images of Black people in American, Dear White People. The movie was written and directed by a young Black unknown writer / director, Justin Simien; and stars Tyler James Williams Everybody Hates Chris, and Tessa Thompson, the Black girl in the last season of Heroes who could turn invisible. This movie will be released on October 17th in limited theaters. What are your thoughts on this movie? Do you think it is enough to provoke thought and effect change? What can you see happening from here? Do you plan to support this young writer / director in this project? Personally, I think its going to be good! It may not be the movie we wanted of seeing Black / African / Moorish people as gods and royals, but its the step in the right direction. This film says to me, were tired of seeing ourselves as buffoons and servants, and were not going to beg for change, were not going to wait around for a savior, were going to take it.
