Holodomor Remembrance Week. We have just celebrated Remembrance day, a holiday which the Western world celebrates in order to remember all the lives lost in a fight for our freedom today. Ukrainians all over the world, take this time to also remember lives lost. However, the lives we remember during this time were simply taken from people.. just because; it was not a fight, it was simply cruel murder and the extermination of a people. The early 1930s went down as the darkest of times in Ukrainian history known as Holodomor (Ukrainian: Голодомор, Extermination by hunger). The estimated death toll of the genocide was 7-10 million people killed by starvation caused by Stalin and his government. People were dying of hunger by the masses and the world just watched. We will always remember the lives lost, and will never forget our painful history. Please remember to say a prayer for the victims of Holodomor.
