Holy Occasion – Sri Hanumajjayanti ; Divya Sannidhi ( i.e. Divine Venue ) – Sri Rama Mandira, Malleshwaram; Prestigious Platform – Malleshwaram Sangeetha Sabha, which is a 67 years old Sabha presently led by Karnataka Kalasri Vid. B C ChandramouLi where several legends and giant artists have performed; August Audience- Sangeeta Kalaratna Vid. S Shankar presiding over, Sri Pa. Ra. Krishnamurthy-the Akhila Bharata Saha Sanghatana Mantri of Samskara Bharati, Sangita Kalaratna and famous art critic Prof. Mysore V Subramanya, Vidushi Anasuya Kulakarni, Vidushi Lakshmi Srinivasa Gopalan, Vid. Anooru R Dattatreya Sharma and many more…; And above all, some of very high profile Co-artists, Vid. Mattur Srinidhi on Violin, Ganakalasri Vid. C. Cheluvaraju on Mridangam, Layavaadyakalaabhushana Vid. Dayananda Mohite on Ghatam!!; Perhaps the only problem was the Paucity of Time. Never mind the delayed start, the END TIME was pronounced first up - it was 8.30!! The Problem was to package her talent within about 80 odd minutes she got and do justice to the confidence reposed and the platform provided. The young and abundantly talented Kum. Bhumika Madhusudan, brimming with “WILL DO” mindset, did full justice to everything and more than met the challenge. In the end, it was a highly memorable concert, applauded and appreciated by all present. Never mind the numbers. It was the quality that mattered. Commencing her rich-in-content concert with a Atta taala varna Sarasijanaabha in Kambhoji, Bhumika invoked Sri Vighneshwara with a Sri Muttuswamy Dikshitar’s kriti Sidhdhi Vinayakam Anisham set in Rupaka Taala and in raga ShaNmukhapriya (Dikshitar school had a different name called Chamara for this raga. The name of the raga, Chamara is beautifully incorporated in the charana i.e., chatra chamara). It was embellished with Kalpanaswara @ PrasidhdhagaNanaayakam. Realising that she had very little time left to showcase her talent (again, the End Time FIXED as 8.30 pm), Bhumika skipped other items including any sub-main and took up the main item. Poorvi Kalyani , a raga that is intense and brings forth the bhakthi rasa with verve was the chosen Raga for the evening. Tuneful Raagalaapane, the usual brilliant response by Vid. Mattur Srinidhi and fantastic rendition of the Sri Ramanad Srinivasayyangar’s gem Parama Pavana Rama in ViLamba Adi Taala with relatively brief Neraval @ Kanakaambaradhara and Kalpanaswara followed by a tremendous Thani Avartane by all musicians’ favourite Vid. Cheluvaraju (who is a photographer’s delight and who always encourages youngsters no end..) and Vid. Dayanand Mohite received whole hearted applause and appreciation by the audience. Bhumika continued her concert with a Saint Purandara Dasa kriti Taarakka Bindige in Tilang- Adi. After the customary Vote of Thanks (which incidentally included few words of appreciation by Sri PaRaKru), Bhumika continued where she had left. Keeping in mind the occasion, i.e. it was Hanumajjayanti Day, she came up with a brilliant piece Koosina Kandira again a Saint Purandara Dasa kriti. A tuneful Laali composed by Saint Sripadarayaru in Ragamaalika (Ananda Bhairavi, Yaman…) Laali Govinda Laali in Khanda Aaditala and a Thillana Dheem nanana in Brindavani - Adi composed by Vid. Dr. M Balamuralikrishna brought the curtains down to a highly memorable concert. Satisfied audience, happy parents.. The “Can-Do-Will-Do” minded Bhumika, WELL DONE. You must thank your “Ever Pushing-you-to-the Edge” Amma a.k.a. Lakshmi Madhusudan, Your Best Friend Appa i.e. Dr. Madhusudana Keshavamurthy and your revered Guru, Vid. Yashasvi Subbarao And, of course, I thank You for inviting me to attend (Y).
