Holy shiz, what a night! Truly humbled to have received the Rangatahi Tu Rangatira youth worker award (for supporting, fostering and nurturing young Maori) tonight at the Innaugural #IAmAuckland youth worker awards. As many of you know, my ethnicity spreads far and wide, from being born in Whaingaroa to having Fijian and American parents, and Iranian / Norwegian lineage... culture means a lot to me. To have the opportunity on a daily basis to work with youth on being proud of who they are - totally and completely - and encompassing their cultural background to enable them to stand tall, and self assured... theres not many feelings better than helping to shape the future tomorrows.
