Oct. 17, 2013 Azkalroos to take on the NSW Nepalese All stars SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA -- Following the highly successful and competitive soccer football trials held at Fiesta Kultura, the Azkalroos Seniors team are set to take on the NSW Nepalese All stars in an all Asian showdown at 5 Sports Complex at Caringbah on Sunday November 17, 2013. The Azkalroos’ former Azkal International Leigh Gunn expects a tough game The Nepalese community are serious football fans and their players will give us a great test. Our players cant wait to represent the Filipino Australian community. Coaching Director Andrew Fletcher is thrilled with the match up and said We are grateful to the Australian Nepalese Football Association for agreeing to play us and we look forward to showcasing the growing talent in the community. Prior to the senior mens game, the Azkalroos will also host specialised coaching and 5-aside juniorgames for some of the young talent that participated in the football trials at Fiesta Kultura. The Azkalroos v Nepalese All-stars event will be the first of a number of games with representative teams of other communities in the lead up to the AFC Asian Cup 2015 which will be held in Australia andboost Asian Australian football. The AFC Asian Cup 2015 will not only be the biggest football event ever held in Australia but also the biggest Australian sporting event since the Sydney Olympics. The Azkals have a big chance to play in the Asian Cup should they win the AFC Challenge Cup to be held in the Maldives in May 2014. The Azkalroos will have a lot to play for as those showing potential will be offered trials in Manila in front of the Azkals selectors and United Football League Clubs.
