U.S. 60 has been closed to traffic between Show Low and Springerville beginning at the intersection of US 60 and US 77 and extending out to Bourdon Ranch Road. Officials have said the fire is beginning to progress toward local propane businesses near Forest Energy but the tanks are not currently threatened. All businesses near the pellet plant to the East have been evacuated at this time. Officials have drawn what they are calling and "imaginary line" between the pellet plant and local propane business. They say if the line is crossed by the flames, everyone on scene will be evacuated. Emergency personnel have already been evacuated east of Forest Energy A water tender is on scene and additional resources are on the way. Linden fire has a very large tank aiding in the efforts. Officials with Linden, Concho, Vernon, Lakeside and Show Low Fire are working the blaze along with Forest Service officials and DPS. ADOT is also on scene and APS has cut power to the area. US Forest Service official Dave Reisner said the Bitter Root Hotshots are also being made available and a type 6 engine is patrolling the area for possible hot spots extending into forested areas. A dozer is also in position in case the fire spreads. Moderate winds are fanning the flames and complicating efforts.
