Home again! Delighted to spend the weekend in Tulsa working with Patti Holcombe-Thompson on her next book. Acting as a developmental editor/writer who comes alongside people to help them write/produce their books is a fascinating and demanding craft. To do this well requires a true connection with the author and the idea of their book, a growing knowledge of their subject, and the continuous practice of seeing through their eyes, learning how they think, and when necessary, writing in their voice. Pattis book is a book of hard-won wisdom over a lifetime, and many of her life lessons resonate with mine, so thank God -- the learning curve is less steep. It is a joy & privilege to come alongside her as a writer/editor/ project manager --- and best of all, as a friend -- and help this baby get born!
