Home from Paris after an excellent weekend with some wonderful people and beautiful cats. I was so worried this morning as the taxis in Paris were on strike ..... EEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek !!!!! The Metro from Charenton to Gare du Nord looked a nightmare with changes and luggage etc. BUT thanks to a wonderful knight in shining armour called Patrick I was transported from the hotel to the station in luxury and could sit in the lounge sympathising with the frantic passengers who had missed the earlier train due to the taxi strike and were desperately trying to change seats onto later Eurostar trains with great difficulty as they were crowded ..... It was so funny though as in my compartment was a school party of around 20 odd pupils. Slightly behind me and diagonally was a young lad of around 14 - 15 who was wearing headphones and droning on to some rap music ..... I put up with it for an hour and then I turned round and said quietly but firmly, Excuse me, could you please not drone along with your music. I paid for a peaceful journey and have had enough .... I said it nicely but I think he realised I meant business as he immediately stopped and all was well for the rest of the journey ...... Once a schoolteacher, always a schoolteacher .....
