Home, now thats a pretty big word to consider. What feels like home? As many of you know, Im finally moving out of storage into home after five years. Yes, Ive been in the PNW for five years and not had a home. All of my stuff has been in storage for a very long time. As Im unpacking my stuff Im finding that some if it has meaning, and Im not ready to let go of it yet, and a lot of it Im ready to let go of, too. But what is this concept of home? What Im finding, and purely for myself, is that its the stories and memories attached to things that help me to feel at home. For instance, I have furniture that was my mothers and her mothers that Im not so willing to let go of -- and they are pretty amazing pieces, too. But I have more recent acquisitions (anybody need a very cool IKEA couch, btw?) that dont carry the same emotional charge for me. So is the concept of home about emotional charge? Is it about ancestors? What do you think its about?
