Home911 - A Quick Reality Check We’re Way Beyond “It Won’t Happen To Me Or My Family” South Africa is averaging over 4 million registered serious crimes every 24-month period (Official Reports: saps.gov.za) 1.3 million of these are defined as violent ‘CONTACT’ crimes. They include aggravated home robberies, personal attacks, rape, murder, attempted murder, hijackings, and assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm. (Official Reports: saps.gov.za) That’s the equivalent of having half of Durban’s total population violently attacked over a 24-month period, or of having 14 Soccer City stadiums filled to capacity, each with 95,000 spectators, and each person being either violently robbed, attacked, raped or murdered. Only to be repeated again over the next 24 months. Incomprehensible. Sadly true. The Suffering Afterwards… Seldom Mentioned “We’re not programmed to be potentially hurt or killed by our own kind so the brain registers the crime as a near-death experience.” (Leading South African Crime Counselor on the suffering AFTER an attack) “Contact crimes frequently cause extremely serious and often lingering (sometimes permanent or even fatal) physical, psychological and material damage to victims, leaving lasting scars…” (Official Reports: saps.gov.za) If Only We’d Had Home911… “REGRET IS GOOD, BUT IT COMES TOO LATE” Many crime victims who see Home911 for the first time overwhelmingly agree that they could probably have saved themselves and their families much trauma and suffering if they’d had Home911 as an instant alert tool on their phones, even completely preventing the crime from having happened at all.
