OPPORTUNITY OVERVIEW: The successful candidate for the Quality Control Inspector position will report directly to the Manager of Quality. He/she will be a key member of the Quality team that verifies product, supports our quest for continuous improvement, and ensures customer satisfaction. The successful candidate for this position will be able to balance the culture of a highly technical company that needs a lean and simple approach on R&D jobs with a very rigorous approach on government and aerospace jobs with the most demanding quality requirements. This highly visible quality team member will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of stimulating and challenging projects across a variety of industries. Scope and Responsibilities: *Perform product verification including dimensional inspection both in a laboratory and on the manufacturing machine, manual surface plate inspection, comparator and visual methods, manual and programmable CMM methods and other specialty methods as may be designated. *Record inspection results and formally document in a variety of ways: First Article Inspection Reports, Detailed Inspection Plans, CMM reports, Customer forms and files. *Evaluate hardware documentation both internally and externally generated. *Prepare inspection plans and instructions *Support lean activities and initiatives. *Work with the project team to ensure overall program quality, delivery and cost objectives are met. Experience & Knowledge Requirements: A minimum of ten years’ experience with mechanical inspection in a complex metal manufacturing environment - aerospace turbomachinery environment preferable. Electromechanical assembly experience is a bonus. *Expert knowledge in use of height gauge, sine plate, gauge blocks, v-blocks, micrometer, caliper, dial indicator, snap gauge, bore gauge, thread gauge, pin guage. *Application awareness of appropriate tool use, First Article and inspection documentation norms, calibration principles *A minimum of three years’ experience with recognized quality systems (ISO, AS, QS, TS) *Excellent knowledge of ANSI Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) *Proficiency in programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines running PC-DMIS and/or CMM Manager, demonstrating efficient methodology and consistency *Comprehensive understanding of metal machining, welding, and non-destructive testing processes, and familiarity with casting, plating, coating, and finishing processes. *Computer skills: basic word processing, spread sheet, database, etc. Personal Attributes: *Desire to manufacture and build product. *Strong organizational skills in managing time, projects and resources. *Detail oriented with passion for documentation and order. *Ability to work as part of a team with proven leadership ability from past experiences. *Excellent oral and written communication skills. *Creative and innovative. Constant learner. *United States Citizenship required. Education: *High school graduate with two year college or trade school degree preferred. *Certifications related to quality inspection and tools are desired (i.e., ASQ Quality Inspector, Coordinate Measuring Machines, Non-Destructive Testing, Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerances, Tool Calibration, etc.).
