Homebuilder confidence has taken something of a beating in recent months, after an optimistic summer. Expectations were that homebuilder confidence for October would be 55, but homebuilders saw the situation slightly grimmer and the figure was instead 54%. David Crowe, the chief economist of the National Association of Home Builders, said that “the fact that builder confidence remains above 50 is an encouraging sign, considering the unresolved debt and federal budget issues that cause builders and consumers to remain on the sideline.”
