Homecoming! It only comes once a year, And this year is all about the Black & Gold!! Join us the week of September 15-21 as we celebrate the legacy of Solomons Steelers’ own Gary Wynn and Focus on honoring the past, embracing the present, and imagining the future when We come together under our “One Community in Unity” theme. SHOW YOUR SPIRIT Steelers Cheerleaders and Football players don’t forget to wear Steelers fan wear to school all week in honor of Homecoming Unity Week. SPIRIT NIGHTS Join the Solomons Steelers for Spirit Nights during Spirit Week: • Monday, September 16 (6-9pm): Dunkin Donuts Lusby • Tuesday, September 17 (5-8pm): Boomerang’s Original Ribs • Wednesday, September 18 (ALL DAY): Stoney’s Seafood House on Solomon’s Pier **Just mention the Solomons Steelers for the organization to receive a portion of the proceeds** UNLIMITED GAME ON WEDNESDAY Come out and support the Solomons Steelers Unlimited team as they play their homecoming game on Wednesday, September 18 at 7pm as the take on the St. Charles Bears. Wear your Steelers gear and show your Black & Gold pride! PEP RALLY This year’s pep rally will be held Friday, September 20 at Cove Point Park @ 6pm, with teams continuing tradition of team potlucks and Homecoming Court/team announcements. Other activities include: • Steelers Flag will have the experience of playing under the lights as flag games will be held Friday night at the start of the pep rally; • Expect an exciting cheer demonstration by our own Solomons Steelers Cheerleaders and a special presentation by our Steelers Cheer Coaches. GARY WYNN UNITY DAY HOMECOMING ACTIVITIES – SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 21 SILENT AUCTION Each team will present their silent auction basket for auction no later than Saturday morning at 8am. Baskets should include a detailed description of items included, as well as include a starting bid on the bidding sheets provided to each team via team moms/coaches. COMMUNITY RECOGNITION This year we will recognize four (4) individuals and one local business for their commitment to service and for making a difference in the community. We will have a special presentation honoring the legacy of Solomons Steelers’ own Gary Wynn. Please join us in celebrating his life and reflecting on the positive impact Gary has had on Southern Maryland football, as he dedicated his life to truly building a community in unity. BAKE-OFF Contest rules are attached, as well as a registration forms. Please submit registration forms in advance to Paris Brown at parismybrown@gmail no later than Thursday, September 19. DANCE As Homecoming Unity Week comes to a close, the Steelers family will celebrate with one last event, a “Glow Party” at Southern Community Center from 7-10:30pm. Refreshments will be served and glow in the dark sticks, necklaces, and other novelties will be on sale during the dance. The dance is free!!
